How we work
How we work
This page exists so you can calibrate how much trust to place in what you read here. We would rather you know exactly what we are before you act on our advice.
What we do not do
We start here because this is what sites like ours tend to overstate.
- We do not lab-test products or run any strength, durability or safety trials.
- We have no veterinarians or animal behaviourists on the team, and nobody with that training reviews our texts.
- We do not publish “best of” rankings or numeric scores: we have nothing to back them up with.
- We do not accept products, payments or trips in exchange for coverage.
- We do not copy star ratings or reviews from other platforms and present them as our own assessment.
What we base our content on
When the answer depends on your particular case — the size of the animal, your square metres, the climate, your budget — we say so instead of averaging it into a single answer.
- Technical specifications you can verify in the seller listing or the manufacturer manual.
- Measurements and criteria you can check yourself at home, with a tape measure or by looking at the product.
- Public documentation: regulations, manufacturer sheets, product recalls and safety alerts.
- Consensus from recognised professional sources, cited where relevant.
Health and safety
We never give diagnoses, dosages, treatments or therapeutic promises. Not in any article.
When a topic touches animal health, the content is limited to explaining when to consult a professional, and stops there. An article of ours is not a second opinion: it is the notice that you need a first one.
If a product or practice carries a known risk of harm, we say so even when it is popular and sells well.
Links and affiliation
- Most of our articles carry no commercial link at all.
- When they do, the disclosure appears up front, before the first link.
- Links are generated in each program dashboard and pasted unmodified: we do not shorten them, mask them or redirect them from this domain.
- They carry the rel="sponsored nofollow noopener" attributes.
- A link is only published if the product is available and the seller has been verified. If either fails, we show the selection criteria instead of a broken link.
- Links are local: a Chilean one only helps someone buying in Chile, and it is labelled as such.
- We do not publish prices as if they were permanent. If a figure appears, it comes with the date it was observed.
Mistakes and corrections
If we find a material error we correct it and log it in the article change log, with date and detail. We do not edit silently.
Every article carries a committed next-review date. If that date has passed and the text has not changed, that is our failure and you can call it out.
Use of artificial intelligence
We use AI for research, outlines, copy-editing and translation. We do not use it to fabricate experience, testing, quotes or comparisons.
Every text goes through human review before publishing, and editorial responsibility always rests with a named person.
